Aybuke removes the background from a photo in one tap, right on your device. Then you choose who stays, clean up the edge and pick what goes behind, all for free and with no upload.

How to remove the background from a photo

  1. Open Remove BG

Tap Remove BG on Explore or in the Edit tab, choose a photo, then tap Remove background. In the editor's tool bar, the same tool is called Cut out.

  2. Choose who stays

If the photo has more than one subject, tap the one to keep. Tap others to add or remove them, or tap All to keep everyone.

  3. Refine the edge

Choose Keep more and brush over anything that went missing, like a strand of hair, or Keep less to brush away a leftover bit of background.

  4. Pick a new background

Choose Transparent, a color, a gradient, a blurred copy of the original or one of your own photos, and turn on Shadow if you like.

  5. Apply and save

Tap Apply, then keep editing, save to Photos or share.

Pick a new background

  • Transparent: saves as a PNG with a see-through background, ready for a slide, a design or a sticker.
  • Colors: white, petal, blush, pink, lilac, mint, butter or black, or any color from the color picker.
  • Gradients: Pastel, Cotton candy, Pink sunset, Aura glow, Lilac haze, Mint breeze and a Y2K grid.
  • Blur original: your own scene, softly blurred behind the subject, for a portrait-mode feel.
  • Your photo: place your cut-out on another picture, like your room or a sunny beach.

Shadow adds a soft shadow under the subject on colors, gradients and your own photos, so it stands on its new background instead of floating.

Make a sticker from a photo

Tap Sticker to turn your cut-out into an outlined sticker: cropped to the subject, with a white outline and a soft shadow on a transparent background.

  • Copy as sticker to paste it wherever you can paste a picture, including onto another photo with the Paste tile in Aybuke's Text & Stickers.
  • Save sticker to keep it in Photos as a transparent PNG.

Try it with your pet, your bubble tea or your favorite mug. Want illustrated stickers of yourself instead? The Sticker Sheet look draws six die-cut stickers of you in cheerful poses, made with AI for 1 credit.

Tips for clean edges

  • Give it contrast. A subject in different colors from the background, in even light, cuts out more cleanly.
  • Think whole subjects. A person, a pet, a plant or a cup works well. If Aybuke says it couldn't find a clear subject, try a photo with more contrast.
  • Zoom in to brush. Pinch with two fingers to zoom, then paint with one: smaller strokes give finer edges around hair and fur. Undo any stroke you don't like.
  • Selling something? A cut-out on white or a pastel gradient makes a clean product photo. For a full studio scene made with AI, there's the Product Studio look (Pro, 1 credit).

Free, private and honest

Remove BG uses Apple's Vision framework on your device. It needs no account and no credits, adds no watermark and never uploads your photo, on the free plan and on Pro. Background removal isn't generative AI, so your picture gets no AI label. When you place a cut-out on another photo, Aybuke notes in the file's metadata that it's a composite, so the picture stays honest about how it was made.

Want a whole new scene instead, like “put me in Paris”? That's a job for Magic Edit, which uses AI credits.

More free tools, same privacy. Hide faces blurs other people's faces before you post, and the collage maker turns 2–9 photos into a photo dump. Neither uses credits.
